COMMERCE BANK ANNOUNCES OFFICER PROMOTIONS AND ELECTIONS

KANSAS CITY, MO - April 29, 2003 - The Board of Directors of Commerce Bank, Kansas City, announced the following officer promotions and elections.

Neal Tasch has been promoted to Vice President in The Commerce Trust Company, a division of Commerce. He is responsible for the administration of personal trust accounts while providing expertise in the areas of estate and tax planning. Tasch has more than 12 years of experience in the asset management and estate planning arena. He is a member of the Eastern Kansas Estate Planning Council; Lawyers Association of Kansas City; Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association; and State Historical Society of Missouri. Tasch holds a law degree, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts degree, from the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Marcia Ubben has been promoted to Vice President in The Commerce Trust Company, a division of Commerce. Ubben is responsible for overseeing client service and personal account administration in the Trust Department. She has more than 27 years of industry experience and is a Certified IRA Services Professional. Ubben is a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and volunteers for the Shawnee Mission Northwest High School parent-teachers association.

Jody Shannon has been elected to Officer in the Retail Banking division. Shannon is the East Group Operations Manager and is responsible for monitoring daily reconcilement and reconciling all teller and general ledger accounts for 12 branches in the Kansas City metropolitan area. She has more than 15 years of experience in bank operations and received Commerce's Operation Excellence Award in 2002.
