Parent PLUS Loan Pre-Approval
Getting pre-approved before you apply for a Parent PLUS Loan will make the application process go more smoothly. A credit check is required for all Parent PLUS Loans.
It’s simple, just follow these three steps:
Step 1:
- Are you the parent of an undergraduate student?
- Has your student already applied for Stafford Loans?
If you answered yes to both questions, proceed to step 2.
Step 2:
Gather the information that you'll need:
- Social Security Numbers for you and your student
- Name of the college or university your student will attend
- Total loan amount you're requesting
(Total cost of undergraduate education - financial aid = amount you can request) - Loan period (e.g. Fall 2009 - Spring 2010)
Step 3:
Get Pre-Approved online. Or, if you'd prefer, simply call us to get pre-approved over the phone at 800-666-3910. We'll run a credit check and get back to you with an answer.
Once you're pre-approved, what's next?
You'll need to complete your Parent PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN). This is your actual loan agreement. You can complete your PLUS MPN online using E-Signature or print the form, complete it, and mail it to Commerce Bank.
