Commerce Bank names new President & CEO of Commerce Bank-Wichita

Wichita, KS – Commerce Bank today announced Monte Cook has been named president and CEO of Commerce Bank-Wichita, effective immediately. Cook will assume responsibility for the bank's western Kansas markets.

Cook has 40 years of experience in the Wichita Market, serving at Commerce for the past 22 years. "Monte's commitment to his community, customers and colleagues, coupled with leadership abilities that inspire and unite our teams, make him the right person to execute Commerce Bank's strategic priorities in our Wichita market," said Kevin Barth, president and COO of Commerce Bank, Kansas City Region.

Most recently, Cook served as a key leader and guiding influence for the Wichita bank following the death of former President & CEO John Clevenger in July, said Barth. Barth also thanked Marilyn Pauly, vice chairman of Commerce Bank-Wichita, for her leadership during the transition.

"Monte and his team of talented Commerce bankers have served Wichita area customers for many years, and will be a formidable force in driving sustainable growth in the market,"said Barth.

A native of Wichita, Cook is actively involved in the community. Past and current board service and current volunteer work include Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Rainbows United, Wichita Children's Home, Kansas Mission of Mercy and Kansas Junior Livestock.
