Douglas D. Neff Elected Senior Vice President and Executive Management Committee Member

Longtime Commerce Bank leader promoted to executive position with holding company

Springfield, MO – John Kemper, president and chief executive officer, Commerce Bancshares, announced Douglas D. Neff has been elected senior vice president of Commerce Bancshares and named to the company’s Executive Management Committee.

Neff, who has been chairman and chief executive officer of Commerce Bank, Southwest Missouri Region since 2013, has 28 years of banking experience and was recently named Director of Community Market Strategy. In this role, Neff will facilitate collaboration and communication across the Bank’s community market footprint to ensure Commerce continues to deliver on its customer-centric, super-community philosophy. Neff will remain in Springfield and will retain his broad portfolio of civic engagement as he joins the Executive Management Committee.

“Doug brings deep relationships and extensive experience to this new role,” said Kemper. “He has a long track record of strong leadership in both commercial banking and community bank administration, and he is a natural fit on the Bank’s Executive Management team.”

Neff began his career at Commerce Bank in Kansas City in 1991 as a management trainee and credit analyst. Since that time, he has worked in the regional banking, correspondent banking and agribusiness areas of the bank. He was responsible for several of Commerce Bank’s community markets in Kansas and Missouri before moving to Wichita in 2003 to oversee commercial banking.

Neff currently serves as president of Boys and Girls Club of Springfield, is a board member of Ozark Technical Community College Foundation, a member of Hawthorne Foundation and is the past chair of Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and the Quirvira Council Boy Scouts of America. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts in finance and a minor in economics and is a graduate of the Prochnow Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
