Greater Kansas City Public Relations Society of America Honors Commerce Bank with Annual PRISM Award

2020 Gold PRISM Award - Commerce Bank Navigation COVID-19 Parris Communications

Kansas City, MO – The Greater Kansas City Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) recently announced that Commerce Bank has been recognized with the Gold PRISM Award for the bank’s customer communication response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The PRISM Awards program recognizes the very best in strategic public relations programs and tactical execution. Gold PRISM awards celebrate the best public relations contributions or campaigns, and the highest standards of performance in public relations.

Kevin Barth, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Commerce Bank, Kansas City Region said, “COVID-19 has had an unprecedented effect on the daily lives of our customers and team members. I am privileged to work with a team as committed as ours to go above and beyond in ensuring the needs and questions of our customers are addressed – in this time of need and always. We are honored to receive this recognition!”

In March of this year, as COVID-19 began tightening its grip across the Commerce Bank footprint, the marketing and communications team acted swiftly to prepare communications that would provide assurance that customers still had exceptional service and access to banking needs in the midst of lobby closures. Communications were sent to share the consumer relief options available in light of economic uncertainty including mortgage payment deferrals, credit card payment deferrals and more. Commerce also provided frequent updates around government loans available to small business and commercial customers through the Paycheck Protection Program.

Paula Petersen, Commerce Bank’s executive committee member overseeing strategy, marketing and analytics said, “In this time of great need and uncertainty, it was critical for the Commerce marketing and communication teams to act quickly in sharing information and supporting consumer and business customers alike. Teamwork and collaboration across the organization enabled our response to let our customers and communities know that we were there to help them with their financial needs so that they could focus on what matters most. I am honored to work alongside this team!”
