Jackie Loya-Torres named Community Development Director of Commerce Bank

St. Louis, MO – Commerce Bank (NASDAQ: CBSH) recently announced Jackie Loya-Torres has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Community Development Director.

The Community Development Director role continues the work Loya-Torres has been doing for the last five years at Commerce as Community Development Officer, focusing on compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act and acting as a trustworthy and reliable advocate serving the community as well as the bank. She is responsible for the bank’s financial education outreach efforts and for many community development and community relations initiatives, especially in low to moderate income and underrepresented areas of the bank’s footprint.

As Community Development Director, Loya-Torres will meet with community leaders and organizations to keep current with their needs, such as increasing access to home ownership, funding youth education, and encouraging business startups. She will then help guide Commerce in the development of affordable new products and services which better serve these customers. “It’s my job to listen and understand the needs of the community, and then make the introductions to people who can help,” says Loya-Torres.

Prior to joining Commerce, Loya-Torres worked in the non-profit sector as a program officer with a local charitable foundation, where she oversaw grants allocations to area agencies working on economic security issues for women and girls. Loya-Torres serves on the Board of Trustees at Cristo Rey High School Kansas City, on the Board of Directors of Community Housing Wyandotte County, on the Executive Committee of Money Smart Kansas City and as Co-Chair of Commerce Bank’s Kansas City Inclusion and Diversity Council. She was a 2018 Fellow of the St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative, a program of the St. Louis Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a graduate of Rockhurst University.
