Experienced Banker Jureau Bowman Combines Passion and Profession as Commerce Bank’s Community Outreach and Banking Officer
Kansas City, MO – Jureau Bowman, a tenured branch manager, has been promoted to Community Outreach and Banking Officer for Commerce Bank. She brings 12 years of banking experience and increasing responsibilities at Commerce to the role along with deep community relationships. Bowman is the outgoing president of the Urban Financial Services Coalition – Greater Kansas City and serves on the boards of the Cleaver YMCA, Southtown Council, and Troost Avenue Community Improvement District (CID).
As the Community Outreach and Banking Officer, Bowman will offer financial education courses to unbanked and underserved community members, assist low-to-moderate income consumers and underrepresented business owners, and collaborate with stakeholders to help increase access to banking services across Commerce Bank’s footprint.
“At Commerce Bank, we are committed to helping our customers, team members and communities thrive,” said Felecia Hogan, senior vice president, director of diversity, equity and inclusion. “Helping households that are unbanked and underbanked achieve full financial inclusion is a major step towards removing barriers and helping to create economic opportunity.”
Terrence Harris, senior vice president, director of retail sales and experience reiterates Commerce Bank’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and is confident Bowman is the right person for the role. “The Community Outreach and Banking Officer further emphasizes our focus on all of the communities that we serve,” says Harris. “Jureau has the knowledge, experience, and heart for the job,” he concluded.
For Bowman, this position is more than her profession. It is her passion. “I made some financial mistakes early in life. Fortunately, I had a family member help me learn from them and guide me to better choices,” says Bowman, assistant vice president, community outreach and banking officer. “When I was a branch manager, I saw a lot of people making similar missteps, but they didn’t have anyone who could help them get back on track. I became that person for my customers. I am excited about my new role because I can help even more people.”
