Des Moines, Iowa. – Angie Currie, Iowa market president at Commerce Bank, was recently named to Business Record’s Forty Under 40 list.

Currie started her career at Commerce Bank in 2008 in the bank’s trainee program, Ascend. Through the program, bank trainees gain hands-on experience, build networks and grow under the mentorship of bank leaders by working in a rotation of bank departments. Following her time in the trainee program, Currie quickly moved from financial specialist to commercial banking relationship manager, where she managed a portfolio of companies with annual revenues of more than $25 million.

In 2014 she moved back to her home state of Iowa to help open the Des Moines Commercial Banking office and quickly earned a reputation as a leader, mentor and a community advocate. Angie and her team are responsible for managing and growing a diverse portfolio of commercial customers throughout Iowa by delivering sophisticated banking solutions along with best-in- class customer service.

In her spare time, Currie serves as president of Des Moines Financial Executive Women and is a member of this year’s Leadership Iowa class. She also uses her passion to mentor young women by volunteering her time at both Iowa State University and Drake University, educating students on how to grow their network, build executive presence, and find career opportunities within the finance and banking industries.

“We couldn’t be happier about the Business Record’s inclusion of Angie in their 2023 list of Forty Under 40. In a relatively short period of time, Angie has accomplished so much during her career at Commerce,” said Nick Warren, Commerce Bank regional banking president. “More important is the passion and energy she brings every day to her community. We are so proud and fortunate to have her leading our team in Iowa.”

Business Record launched Forty Under 40 to recognize and amplify young business leaders. Honorees are selected by their peers and come from diverse backgrounds. Business Record announced its 40 Under 40 last month. You can find the list here.
