Samantha Werner named a 2023 NEXTGen Leader
Kansas City, Mo. – Samantha Werner, treasury management sales manager at Commerce Bank, has been named a NextGen Leader by the Kansas City Business Journal. The program recognizes up-and-coming talent and aims to help emerging leaders continue to build their knowledge and skill sets. A panel of judges selected the 25 NextGen Leaders based on their accomplishments, talents and drive. The honorees were recently recognized at a private luncheon.
As Treasury Management market manager for the Kansas City, Central Missouri, Springfield and Colorado regions, Werner helps set the strategy for treasury efforts for large commercial, healthcare and insurance clients to automate their cash flow processes for the treasury sales team. Additionally, she leads a treasury team dedicated to supporting Commerce Bank’s healthcare efforts throughout the US. For both teams, she serves as coach and mentor, helping to identify opportunities, finding the right solutions and removing potential impediments.
“Sam is a highly respected leader at Commerce,” said Kevin Barth, Chairman and CEO, Commerce Bank – Kanas City. “She shares innovative ideas and helps coach team members across the organization. Not only does she have a distinguished list of business achievements as a leader, her work outside of our company in the broader community is most admirable.”
In her spare time, Werner serves as the president of The Mason Werner Foundation, a foundation in which she founded in 2010. Named for her infant twin son she lost to SIDS, The Mason Werner Foundation provides onesies and information on safe sleep practices. She also recently completed an 11-year term on the Infant Loss Resources board of directors, which provides bereavement support to families who have lost an infant. Werner is a graduate of Missouri State University.
