ST. LOUIS -- Commerce Bank has been recognized on Forbes’ 2022 America’s Best Midsize Employers List for the fifth year in a row. Despite the continued impact of the pandemic, Commerce’s inclusion on the list underscores the bank’s strong culture and focus on the team member experience.

The keys to Commerce Bank earning a spot on the 2022 list are maintaining the bank’s culture in a hybrid work environment and continuing to help develop team members and grow their career at Commerce despite the challenges of the pandemic. “Our fifth consecutive placement on the list confirms that it is what’s within us, and not the environment outside of Commerce, that make us an employer of choice,” said Sara Foster, executive vice president, talent and corporate administration. “We want team members to bring their best selves to work so they can help customers focus on what matters most. In 2021, we strengthened our onboarding program for new team members, continued to help all team members achieve a sense of belonging through employee resource groups, and created new development opportunities through job shadowing and mentoring programs,” she shared.

Commerce pays close attention to key signals to determine how team members feel on an annual basis to identify areas where the bank can improve. Each year, the bank conducts a survey to measure team member sense of engagement, enablement, and overall satisfaction with their employment at Commerce. The 2021 engagement and enablement scores exceeded the scores of other high-performing peer financial institutions.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to compile the list by surveying 60,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Participants were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family, and to nominate organizations other than their own. The final list, which can be found here, ranks the 500 large and 500 midsize employers that received the most recommendations.
