Commerce Bank Supplier Diversity Program

Supplier Diversity

At Commerce Bank, we’re dedicated to building strong communities. We believe small businesses are the foundation of a thriving community – as is diversity and inclusion. Put those together, and you can see why supplier diversity is a focus for us. Continue reading to learn more about what supplier diversity means to us, as well as how to participate as a supplier.

Program mission

The Commerce Bank Supplier Diversity program aims to establish and build relationships with certified diverse enterprises to supply Commerce Bank’s operating needs while helping those enterprises grow.

What is Supplier Diversity?

There are a variety of purchasing needs at Commerce Bank. These vary from location to location, but we commonly hire external contractors for building services, landscaping services, office supplies and printing services, and technology services and supplies. With each hiring decision we make, we ensure all suppliers have a fair chance, and we encourage diverse suppliers to apply.

The Importance of Supplier Diversity

As a super-community bank, we are deeply involved in the communities where we live and work. The neighborhoods we serve are diverse, and we believe our business practices – from how we recruit team members to which paper supplier we hire – should reflect the community.

We also believe that by hiring local suppliers, we’re able to put resources back into the community to further enrich the local economy.

Eligibility requirements

We have very high standards for our organization and the products and services we offer. We expect those same high standards from our suppliers.

If you can provide high quality products while helping us find ways to lower our costs, this could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

To qualify for our Supplier Diversity Program, a company must be certified as owned by one or more of the following: minority, woman, veteran, small business, person with a disability or Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT). Commerce Bank invites you to register your company in the Supplier One Diverse Supplier Database, by Supplier.io.

Why register?

In support of diverse-owned businesses, Commerce Bank has collaborated with Supplier.io, which has a proprietary database of over 2 million diverse and small businesses. This database is used by many Fortune 500 companies when they are looking for qualified diverse and small suppliers. Completing your profile and keeping it updated will provide buyers with sufficient information to help make decisions about your capabilities.

What information do I need to provide?

Please provide information about your company’s capabilities, products and services, locations, contacts, size and certifications.

Does my business have to be certified diverse by a third-party agency?

No. While certifying through agencies such as the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC), Disability:IN, or Small Business Association (SBA), to name a few, is desired, it is not required.

Businesses can self-classify, or self-certify, by registering in Supplier.io’s database and completing an electronic attestation.

Will this lead to more business from buyers?

Registration in the database is no guarantee of any contact, interest or future business. However, registration increases your visibility to buyers on the platform and makes it easier for them to find your company when opportunities arise.

How often should I update my information?

Buyers rely on the information in the database to be accurate and current. It is recommended that you update your profile as your information changes, and at least once a year. If your information is not updated annually, your profile may be marked inactive and no longer be visible to our buyers.
