Employment Verification
After retirement, you may decide you want to explore new or part-time volunteer career opportunities, or maybe you are moving, getting a loan, etc. and your employment will need to be verified through The Work Number.
Contact The Work Number online or call 1-800-660-3399. Commerce’s Employer Code is: 10204. The person needing to verify your employment will log into the system and validate your previous employment.
Note: In some instances, you might be asked to provide a Salary Key prior to verifying your income information. A Salary Key is a unique six-digit number that allows one-time access to your income data. In most cases, you will have granted consent when signing an application and a Salary Key won’t be needed, but if asked to provide a Salary Key, you’ll find instructions at: https://www.theworknumber.com or 1-800-367-2884.

Emotional Well-Being
Most often, we think of retirement in terms of financial well-being matters. But we know the transition to retirement is more than just that — there's also an emotional component.
Here are a few tips and resources to help you navigate life in retirement.
Find passions to pursue.
You may now find yourself with more time to volunteer or even pick an old hobby. If you are looking for volunteer opportunities, the United Way is a great place to start. Additionally, check out Volunteer Match to find opportunities near you. If you need more ideas, local hospitals, animal shelters, Red Cross, and other local organizations typically have volunteer opportunities listed on their websites.
Build your community.
Work wasn’t just about a paycheck. You were surrounded by a team (a community!) that gave you an identity. You may miss the responsibilities and relationships you once had. Consider finding other retired peers to get advice on how they made a successful transition and get connected with local groups to help build a new community where you feel a sense of belonging and purpose.
Understand there are several emotional stages to retirement.
It takes time to adjust. Being aware of these stages and the feelings that come with it will help make this experience more manageable and enjoyable! There are many resources available to help you understand and navigate the different phases of retirement. Find what resonates with you and take advantage of SupportLinc our Employee Assistance Program.
