Here are some frequently asked questions regarding the feature.

What is toggle®?

toggle® is a free and flexible payment feature that allows you to link up to two checking accounts to your Commerce Bank credit card to pay for specific purchases from your checking account based upon payment preferences you set.

How does toggle® work?

After you sign up for toggle® and link an eligible checking account to your credit card, you can then specify which credit card purchases you wish to use the Pay Now® feature to pay from your checking account. For example, if you wish to Pay Now® for “All Gas Purchases”, a toggle® credit will be applied to your credit card account each time a Gas purchase posts to your credit card account, that Gas purchase will then be paid for from your linked checking account. Below is an example of how this particular purchase would appear on each of your accounts:

How do I sign up for toggle®?

You may sign up for toggle® by clicking on the Sign-Up for toggle® link within Commerce Bank Online Banking. This link can be found on your credit card Account Activity Page or on the Customer Service Page.

What information will I need to provide in order to sign up for toggle®?

You will need a Commerce Bank credit card that is open and in good standing, at least one checking account, and a valid email address in order to sign up.

How long will it take to add toggle® to my account after I sign up?

toggle® will be added to your credit card account immediately after you finish the sign up process.

How do I know if my Commerce Bank credit card is eligible for toggle®?

As long as your account is open and in good standing, your credit card will be eligible for the toggle® feature.

Why do I need to link a checking account to my credit card in order to use toggle®?

A key benefit of toggle® is being able to use the Pay Now® feature for specific purchases you select. You must link a checking account to your credit card in order to pay for your Pay Now® purchases after they have posted to your credit card account.

How many checking accounts can I link to my credit card for toggle®?

You may link up to two checking accounts to your credit card for toggle® which can either be a Commerce or non-Commerce checking account.

Can I use a savings account for toggle®?

No; you may only link a checking account to your credit card through toggle®.

If a primary applicant or co-applicant of the credit card is not an owner of a linked checking account, will they have access to it?

Yes; primary applicants and co-applicants will be able to view or modify the Pay Now® Payment Preferences and/or remove any of the checking accounts that have been linked to the credit card for the purpose of toggle®.

Can I link my Commerce Bank Small Business deposit account to my credit card for toggle®?

No; Commerce Bank Small Business deposit accounts are not currently eligible to be linked to your credit card for toggle®.

What if I don’t have a Commerce Bank checking account to use for toggle®?

You can link up to two checking accounts even if your checking accounts reside at different financial institutions from Commerce Bank.

When is a payment made to my credit card account from one of my linked checking accounts?

Once a Pay Now® purchase posts to your credit card account, an ACH payment request is sent to the checking account that you have linked to your credit card through toggle®. The ACH payment process may take up to 1 to 2 business days after the purchase has posted to your credit card account.

What if I don’t have enough funds in my checking account to pay for my Pay Now® purchase?

If you don’t have enough funds in your Commerce Bank checking account, the purchase will be posted back to your credit card as a debit and will become a part of your outstanding credit card balance. Your toggle® Payment Preferences will be automatically turned Off, until such time that you choose to turn your Payment Preferences back On. Other restrictions and/or fees may apply if your checking account resides at another financial institution.

What is the difference between Pay Now® and Pay Later?

Pay Now® purchases are those purchases that fall into toggle® categories you selected on the Pay Now® page. After Pay Now® purchases post to your credit card account they will then be paid for from your linked checking account. Pay Later purchases are all other credit card purchases that do not fall into one of the toggle®  categories you selected to Pay Now®. Pay Later purchases become a part of your outstanding credit card balance for you to pay according to the terms of your credit card agreement as you normally would.

How do I specify which purchases I want to Pay Now® and Pay Later?

You can use the ‘On’ and ‘Off’ switches on the Pay Now® screen to predetermine which credit card purchases you want to use Pay Now® feature from your checking account or Pay Later through your monthly credit card statement. Purchases that fall within any toggle® category that is turned ‘On’ will Pay Now® from your checking account. Purchases that fall within a toggle® Category that is turned ‘Off’ will become a part of your outstanding credit card balance to Pay Later as you normally would.

Will toggle® be added to all of the Cards that are used for my Credit Card Account?

Yes; when you add toggle® to your Account, it is also added to any Card in connection with your Account. Any purchases made using your Account and/or related Card(s) which you have selected to Pay Now®, will be paid for from the checking account that is linked to your Account.

What are the different payment preferences that can be used to specify the purchases that I would like to Pay Now®?

You can specify your Pay Now® Payment Preferences in three ways: (1) by purchase amount, (2) by toggle® category or (3) by a combination of purchase amount and toggle® category.

Can I select more than one toggle® category to Pay Now®?

Yes; you may select more than toggle® category to Pay Now® from your linked checking accounts.

Does toggle® allow me to Pay Now® for all purchases less than a specific amount from one checking account, and all purchases greater than or equal to a specific amount from my other checking account?

Yes; if you wish to have each of your checking accounts used for the Pay Now® feature for purchases made at the same merchant, you will need to turn “On” a “less than” amount for that merchant on one checking account, and turn “On” a “greater than or equal to” amount for that same merchant on your other checking account.

For example, use the  Pay Now® feature for gas purchases less than $10 from checking account 1, and use the Pay Now® feature for gas purchases greater than or equal to $10 from checking account 2. If at any time you choose to have all gas purchases paid for from one checking account, your Payment Preferences for the other checking account will be automatically overwritten.

What is Unwind®

Unwind® is a feature that will allow you to post a Pay Now®  purchase back to your credit card account to become part of your outstanding credit card balance to Pay Later. Any funds that have already been debited from your checking account to pay for the Pay Now® transaction will be returned to your checking account as a credit within 2-3 business days. Any purchase that you choose to Unwind® will be subject to interest charges according to the terms of your Cardholder Agreement.

Do toggle® credits replace my monthly payment to my credit card?

No; toggle® credits do not count towards your minimum payment due. You will still have a minimum payment due each month. The minimum payment due is located on your monthly credit card statement.

Will Pay Now® transactions be reflected on my credit card statement?

Yes; Pay Now® purchases and toggle® credits will appear on your credit card statement, and on the credit card Account Activity page within Online Banking.

If I return merchandise to a store after a Pay Now® purchase has already been paid for, where will the return credit be posted?

Return credits will post to your credit card account.

Will I earn rewards for all of my Pay Now® and Pay Later transactions?

Yes, if your credit card is currently enrolled in a Commerce Bank Rewards Program you will earn rewards for all of your credit card purchases.
