Account Security
and Password Help
While we have many safety measures in place to protect your account, security starts with you. Having a strong password, changing it often, and not sharing your password are a few basic tips. Let’s dive a little deeper.
My Account
Security Information
Helping you protect the privacy and security of your confidential financial information is a top priority. Online Banking uses security levels with end-to-end encryption. Your accounts are protected with a Customer ID and password which you should not write down or disclose to anyone. Remember, Commerce will never ask you for your Customer ID or password.
Resetting
Your Password
To gain a greater level of protection:
- We recommend changing your Customer ID and password on a regular basis.
- Only you should know your private Customer ID and password, so you can help protect your data.
- Your Customer ID and password are NOT known to your internet service provider or to Commerce Bank.
Password Security
Best Practices
- Do not use common words or words that can be found in the dictionary.
- Do not include any part of your name, your initials, or any four consecutive numbers of your Social Security number, phone number or address.
- Do not write down your password or share it with others.
- Use different passwords for different systems. That way, if one becomes compromised, the others remain secure.
- Change your password periodically. We recommend your password be changed every 30–60 days.
